Comparison

Intrvio vs HireVue

If you're evaluating HireVue, you're probably hiring at Fortune 500 scale or shopping for a proven, one-way video assessment stack with deep ATS integrations. HireVue is genuinely strong there: 20+ year history, comprehensive integrations (Workday, iCIMS, Greenhouse, Lever), and FedRAMP certification — best-in-class for that segment.

Intrvio is not competing in that lane. Intrvio is a modern voice-AI interviewer for startups and midmarket teams hiring 5–500 people a year. Instead of one-way video, GAIA runs real-time voice conversations. Instead of an enterprise contract, you pay per interview. Instead of weeks of onboarding, setup is minutes. If you found HireVue too heavy or too expensive for your scale, Intrvio is built for exactly that gap.

When HireVue is the better choice

  • You hire 1,000+ a year and run call center / retail / frontline programs

HireVue's structured assessments and ATS write-back behavior are tuned for high-volume, frontline hiring. Intrvio doesn't yet serve that volume.

  • You need Workday or iCIMS as your ATS

HireVue's enterprise integrations are deeper. Intrvio is currently Greenhouse, Lever, and Ashby only.

  • You require FedRAMP or public-sector compliance

HireVue is the only FedRAMP-certified vendor in the virtual-interviewing space. If that's a hard requirement, go.

When Intrvio is the better choice

  • You're a startup or midmarket team hiring 5–500 a year

A $30K–$50K/yr enterprise contract is wildly out of proportion. Intrvio bills per usage — monthly or per-interview — and is roughly 10x cheaper at small scale.

  • You want to start this week

HireVue typically requires sales-led onboarding measured in weeks. With Intrvio you can sign up and run a live interview in 10 minutes.

  • You want a real-time voice conversation, not one-way video

GAIA asks follow-ups, probes ambiguity, and gives candidates a conversation rather than a monologue. That means richer signal at the screening stage.

  • EU AI Act compliance is on your roadmap

Intrvio is built with the EU AI Act's high-risk system requirements in mind from day one — audit log, region tagging, candidate consent, model versioning. HireVue will get there; we started there.

Pricing comparison

HireVue uses enterprise pricing: annual contracts, usually six figures, paid up front. Vendr's transaction data puts the average annual contract at about $49,855.[1] Hrstacks reports the Essentials plan starts at $35,000.[2] Intrvio uses transparent pay-as-you-go pricing.

Migration / switch guide

Switching usually takes half a day to a week. Find your HireVue renewal date, plan a dual-run period, and follow the steps below.

  1. Identify your contract renewal date. Notify HireVue of non-renewal 60–90 days before renewal (check your termination clause).
  2. Export your interview guides and scoring rubrics from HireVue as CSV.
  3. Open a free Intrvio account and import the templates. GAIA auto-suggests rubrics; review them.
  4. Connect your ATS via Greenhouse / Lever / Ashby webhook.
  5. Run two pilot weeks in parallel for one role — compare Intrvio's outputs to HireVue's.
  6. Calibrate the hiring team. GAIA's voice follow-ups will be new to your interviewers.
  7. Cut over fully. Archive HireVue records as JSON for your audit log.
